About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established and growing property & casualty insurance organization seeking a Manager, Accounting & Reporting to join its Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance accounting professional to take ownership of key U.S. GAAP and statutory reporting activities while leading a team and driving operational improvements across the accounting function.

Position Overview
The Manager, Accounting & Reporting will oversee accounting and financial reporting activities supporting multiple insurance entities. This individual will lead the monthly close process, ensure the timely preparation of U.S. GAAP and statutory financial reporting, maintain a strong internal control environment, and collaborate with cross-functional business partners.
This role is well suited for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys balancing technical accounting responsibilities with people leadership and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across multiple insurance entities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee U.S. GAAP and statutory (Yellow Book) financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate regulatory filings.
- Review complex balance sheet reconciliations, subledger activity, and financial variance analyses.
- Supervise, coach, and develop members of the accounting team while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Support and strengthen internal controls, SOX compliance efforts, external audits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Partner with teams across Finance, including Actuarial, FP&A, Treasury, Internal Audit, and external auditors on reporting initiatives and special projects.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve reporting workflows, and enhance documentation.
- Support accounting system enhancements and technology initiatives designed to improve efficiency.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities and consistently meet reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Seven or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the property & casualty insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and statutory (Yellow Book) accounting and reporting.
- Experience leading month-end close and financial reporting processes.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring accounting professionals.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to work with large, complex data sets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across departments while leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation.
- Experience with financial reporting systems such as Oracle, Workiva, Power BI, Sovos, Wings, or similar platforms.
- Experience leading accounting process improvements, automation initiatives, or system implementations.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and external audit processes.
