Manager, Investment Accounting – Insurance

A leading insurance organization is seeking a Manager, Investment Accounting to join its accounting and finance team. This is an opportunity for an accounting professional with a strong background in insurance, investments, and/or public accounting to take on a key role supporting investment accounting and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation, analytical mindset, and experience working with investment-related accounting within an insurance or financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and support investment accounting and financial reporting activities
- Analyze investment activity, accounting results, and financial data
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Review investment accounting transactions, reconciliations, and reporting
- Partner with internal accounting, finance, investment, and reporting teams
- Assist with technical accounting research and the interpretation of accounting guidance
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and analytics
- Provide analysis and insight around investment portfolios and related financial results
Ideal Background
We are open to candidates coming from several relevant backgrounds, including:
- 4+ years of experience in either public accounting or industry investment accounting roles.
- Public accounting professionals with insurance experience, particularly candidates from Big 4 or national accounting firms
- Accounting professionals with insurance investment accounting experience
- Candidates with experience across investments, financial reporting, accounting analytics, or insurance accounting
- Experience with GAAP and/or STAT accounting
- Background working with investment portfolios, investment reporting, or insurance financial statements
- Strong Excel and financial analysis capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
What We’re Looking For
The strongest candidates will have a combination of technical accounting knowledge, analytical ability, and insurance industry exposure. Experience specifically within investment accounting is highly relevant, but candidates with strong insurance accounting or public accounting backgrounds and meaningful investment exposure are encouraged to apply.
