Title: Microsoft Collaboration Platform Engineer
Location: Fully Remote (must be based in USA – very occasional travel)

A growing financial services organization is seeking a Microsoft Collaboration Platform Engineer to take ownership of its enterprise collaboration ecosystem. You’ll serve as the technical owner for Collaboration platforms across M365, partnering with infrastructure, security, digital workplace, and business leaders to deliver a modern employee experience at enterprise scale.

This is not a support-focused M365 role. This is a senior engineering position for someone who views collaboration technologies as products and platforms rather than tools. You’ll assist in the strategy, architecture, governance, roadmap, and continuous improvement of key Microsoft collaboration services while remaining hands-on enough to engineer, automate, and troubleshoot complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical roadmap, lifecycle management, and strategic direction of enterprise collaboration platforms.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Viva, and related M365 collaboration technologies.
  • Design, implement, and optimize collaboration solutions that improve productivity, communication, and employee engagement.
  • Drive governance, security, compliance, and adoption strategies across collaboration platforms.
  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure, Identity, and End User Computing teams to ensure alignment across the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Lead platform enhancements, upgrades, migrations, and new feature rollouts.
  • Develop automation and operational efficiencies using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, Power Platform, and related technologies.
  • Manage platform health, performance, capacity planning, and operational excellence.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex platform issues and service disruptions.
  • Evaluate emerging Microsoft technologies, Copilot capabilities, and AI-driven workplace innovations.
  • Collaborate with executive stakeholders and business leaders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
  • Establish standards, best practices, documentation, and governance frameworks.
  • Support vendor relationships, licensing strategy, and platform optimization initiatives.

Skilled Needed:

  • 8+ years of experience supporting and engineering Microsoft collaboration technologies.
  • Deep expertise across:
    • Microsoft Teams
    • SharePoint Online
    • OneDrive for Business
    • Exchange Online
    • Microsoft 365 Administration
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Experience owning enterprise platforms rather than solely providing operational support.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Graph API.
  • Knowledge of governance, compliance, retention, and security controls within Microsoft 365.
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale collaboration environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot and AI-enabled workplace technologies.
  • Knowledge of Power Platform.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, or banking.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and product ownership concepts.
