Senior / Lead SAP Basis Administrator

Location: Greater Houston, TX (Onsite – 5 days per week)
Working Arrangement: Fully onsite – remote and hybrid working are not available.

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with an established enterprise organization seeking an experienced Senior / Lead SAP Basis Administrator to support its complex SAP landscape and contribute to major system upgrades and an ongoing transition to S/4HANA.

This is a hands-on technical position requiring significant experience across SAP Basis administration, upgrades, troubleshooting and enterprise application support. The successful candidate will bring strong technical depth and the ability to independently resolve complex issues across multiple SAP environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimize enterprise SAP environments, ensuring system stability, availability and performance.

• Support end-to-end SAP upgrade projects, including planning, execution, troubleshooting and post-upgrade activities.

• Perform SAP upgrade-related activities, including SPDD/SPAU processes.

• Provide technical administration and support across SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW/BOBJ, PI, NetWeaver and Solution Manager.

• Troubleshoot complex SAP Basis issues across ABAP, Java and database environments.

• Support SAP installations, migrations, maintenance and performance tuning.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, database and application teams to resolve technical issues.

• Contribute to disaster recovery planning, technical documentation and operational improvements.

• Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation supporting production SAP systems.

Required Experience

• 6+ years of hands-on SAP Basis administration experience within complex enterprise environments.

• Proven experience supporting SAP upgrade projects through the full upgrade lifecycle.

• Practical experience with SPDD/SPAU activities and associated upgrade troubleshooting.

• Strong technical understanding of SAP ABAP, Java/NetWeaver and SAP BOBJ environments.

• Experience administering and supporting SAP ECC, S/4HANA, PI and Solution Manager.

• Experience with SAP HANA and familiarity with DB2 databases.

• Strong Linux and Windows administration knowledge.

• Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex SAP technical issues.

• Experience supporting production SAP landscapes, including ongoing maintenance, performance monitoring and incident resolution.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP technical certifications, particularly in Basis administration, HANA or S/4HANA.

• Experience delivering multiple SAP upgrade or migration projects.

• Exposure to varied enterprise SAP landscapes and customer environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

What We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed substantial, hands-on SAP Basis expertise, rather than those whose experience has been limited to project oversight or high-level technical exposure.

Candidates should be comfortable discussing specific SAP upgrade projects, explaining their direct technical contributions and working through complex troubleshooting scenarios.
