Senior Accountant – Audit & Business Advisory Services

Irvine, CA | $85,000-$105,000 + Benefits | Full-Time

Take Your Audit Career Beyond the Traditional Audit Role

Are you an Audit Senior looking for the next step in your career-but don’t want to simply move from one audit firm to another?

This opportunity offers the chance to build on your audit experience while gaining broader business advisory, technical accounting and client-facing exposure.

Our client is an established, independently owned public accounting firm in Southern California serving public and private middle-market companies across real estate, technology, life sciences, manufacturing and nonprofits.

The Role

As a Senior Accountant within the Audit & Business Advisory Services group, you’ll take on significantly more responsibility for client engagements while developing the technical, leadership and relationship-management skills needed for progression toward Manager.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Performing audit procedures across complex financial statement areas including revenue, accounts receivable, inventory, debt and equity.

  • Preparing and reviewing thorough audit documentation and conclusions.

  • Serving as a primary day-to-day client contact.

  • Communicating project status, challenges and timelines to clients and firm leadership.

  • Supervising staff and managing the day-to-day execution of engagement plans.

  • Reviewing staff work and providing constructive feedback and coaching.

  • Analyzing financial statements and identifying internal control, process and operational improvement opportunities.

  • Performing accounting and auditing research using Bloomberg and other technical resources.

  • Developing industry knowledge across areas including SEC, real estate, life sciences, employee benefit plans and nonprofits.

  • Building relationships across other service lines and developing a broader understanding of client needs.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

More Than Audit
You’ll continue developing strong audit and accounting fundamentals while gaining exposure to business advisory and operational improvement-valuable experience if you eventually want to move into a more consultative career path.

Real Client Responsibility
Rather than remaining behind the scenes, you’ll become a key day-to-day contact for clients and have the opportunity to develop relationships with management.

A Sustainable Public Accounting Model
The position targets approximately 1,725 chargeable hours annually, with busy-season weeks expected to reach approximately 55 hours.

For professionals coming from Big 4 or larger national firms, that creates an opportunity to continue gaining high-quality public accounting experience while working within a more controlled annual workload.

Clear Progression
You’ll supervise staff, take ownership of engagements and develop the client-facing and technical skills that position you for future advancement into management.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with an accounting emphasis.

  • 2+ years of audit experience within a CPA firm.

  • Active CPA license or progress toward obtaining your CPA.

  • Strong technical accounting and auditing judgment.

  • Professional skepticism and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and client-service skills.

  • Experience with CCH Engagement, Bloomberg Research, ProSystem FX, Excel, Word, Teams and Adobe is preferred.

Compensation

$85,000-$105,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.

If you’re ready for a Senior role where you’re not just completing audit procedures, but actually developing client relationships, supervising teams and gaining exposure to business advisory, this could be a strong next step.
