Senior Accountant – Statutory Reporting
Overview
The Senior Accountant will support statutory accounting, financial reporting and regulatory requirements across insurance and reinsurance operations. The role will contribute to the monthly, quarterly and annual close while partnering with Finance, Actuarial, Tax, Legal and Compliance.
Responsibilities
- Support key components of the monthly, quarterly and annual statutory close.
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, workpapers and supporting schedules.
- Assist with statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.
- Analyze financial results and statutory reporting variances.
- Support supplemental schedules and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Partner with Actuarial, Tax, Finance, Legal and Compliance teams.
- Assist with regulatory inquiries, audits and information requests.
- Support internal controls and SOX requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve statutory reporting processes.
- Support automation, reporting enhancements and accounting projects.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support broader finance initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
- 3-8+ years of accounting, financial reporting, audit or related experience.
- Statutory accounting/reporting experience preferred but not required.
- Insurance, reinsurance or financial services experience desirable.
- Life, Annuity or P&C experience a plus.
- Exposure to statutory financial statements or regulatory reporting desirable.
- CPA or other professional qualification a plus.
- Experience with Excel and ERP/general ledger systems preferred.
- Exposure to automation, AI or data analytics a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across functions.
