Senior Business Analyst – Front Office / BlackRock Aladdin

Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)
Contract: Initial 6 Months

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Front Office Business Analyst with strong hands-on experience with BlackRock Aladdin to support key business and technology initiatives within an investment management environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with front-office stakeholders, investment professionals, and technology teams to understand business requirements, analyze workflows, and translate business needs into effective technical solutions. A strong understanding of investment management processes and the Aladdin platform is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with front-office stakeholders, including Portfolio Managers, Traders, and investment teams, to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.

• Support initiatives involving BlackRock Aladdin, ensuring business processes and system functionality align with investment management needs.

• Analyze existing front-office workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and system functionality.

• Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, process maps, and acceptance criteria.

• Work closely with technology, development, and implementation teams to support solution design and delivery.

• Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and agree on priorities.

• Support system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, and implementation activities.

• Investigate data and system issues, working with technical teams to identify root causes and support resolution.

• Assist with data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting to support business decisions and operational processes.

• Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst within front-office investment management, asset management, or buy-side financial services.

• Strong hands-on experience with BlackRock Aladdin and a solid understanding of its role in investment management workflows.

• Understanding of front-office processes, ideally covering portfolio management, trading, order management, or investment analytics.

• Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering, business process analysis, and functional documentation.

• Experience working with both business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Experience supporting testing, UAT, and the delivery of technology or process improvement initiatives.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• SQL experience for data querying, analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.

• Python knowledge for data analysis, automation, or process improvement.

• Experience with investment data, portfolio reporting, trade lifecycle processes, or system integrations.

• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Business Analyst with strong Aladdin expertise, a solid understanding of front-office investment processes, and the ability to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams. SQL skills are highly desirable, while Python experience would be an additional advantage.
