Senior Database Engineer / Database Administrator

We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer / Database Administrator to manage, optimise and continuously improve database environments. You will collaborate with software engineers, infrastructure specialists and architects to ensure databases remain reliable, efficient and scalable.

What will you do?

• Manage, configure and optimise database environments.

• Monitor database performance and availability.

• Analyse and resolve complex database issues.

• Optimise SQL queries, indexes and database configurations.

• Perform database upgrades, migrations and maintenance.

• Develop and test backup and recovery procedures.

• Support development teams with database-related challenges.

• Improve database scalability, reliability and performance.

• Automate database administration and routine operational tasks.

• Advise on database architecture and technical improvements.

What are we looking for?

• At least 5 years of experience as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator or in a similar role.

• Strong experience with at least one relational database management system.

• Advanced SQL skills.

• Experience with performance tuning and query optimisation.

• Knowledge of database administration, backup and recovery.

• Experience with database availability and business continuity.

• Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of database architecture and data modelling.

• A structured and analytical approach to problem-solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle or DB2.

• Experience with cloud-based databases.

• Knowledge of database automation.

• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery.

• Experience with database migrations and modernisation.

• Experience working in large-scale IT environments.
