Oliver James is partnering with a global insurance organization that’s seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to join its growing team. This position offers exposure to a diverse investment portfolio and accounting framework along with access to key stakeholders across finance, asset management, and third-party service providers.
The ideal candidate will support investment accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, regulatory submissions, and various process-improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, reconcile, and balance monthly investment accounting data received from external service providers.
- Compile and validate investment interface files, investigate discrepancies, and resolve reconciling items within established deadlines.
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of information submitted to global investment databases.
- Coordinate with third-party accounting providers, asset managers, internal data teams, and senior finance stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly variance analyses and perform reasonableness checks on investment-related financial data.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual investment reporting, including financial statement footnotes and disclosures.
- Assist with regulatory, management, and rating-agency reporting requirements.
- Review and maintain supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Support investment reporting across US GAAP, STAT, and IFRS.
- Partner with investment accounting leadership on special projects, process enhancements, and other time-sensitive deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
- Relevant experience within insurance, investment accounting, financial reporting, or audit.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and STAT investment accounting principles.
- Familiarity with IFRS reporting is preferred.
- CPA and/or MBA credentials are advantageous.
- Experience working with investment accounting platforms such as Clearwater, CAMRA, PAM or comparable systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Collaborative approach and willingness to take ownership of deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
