Overview
Oliver James’ client is seeking an experienced Senior Product Experience Designer to join a product design team focused on creating secure, intuitive, and scalable digital payment experiences. The team is dedicated to simplifying online payments by building products that improve convenience, security, and trust for consumers and businesses.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Experience Designer, you will design and evolve user-centred digital experiences across the full product lifecycle, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Design intuitive, user-centred experiences for digital payment products.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Content Designers, UX Researchers, and other Product Designers throughout the design process.
- Lead and contribute to design workshops, ideation sessions, design critiques, and stakeholder reviews.
- Participate in every stage of the design life cycle, from problem discovery and user research to concept development, prototyping, validation, and product refinement.
- Translate customer insights and research findings into effective design solutions.
- Create high-fidelity mock-ups, interactive prototypes, and production-ready designs.
- Maintain and contribute to shared Figma design systems, component libraries, and design standards.
- Support large-scale product initiatives and go-to-market activities where design expertise is required.
- Ensure accessibility, consistency, and design quality across all products.
Key requirements
- A proven track record of leading end-to-end product design initiatives.
- Strong experience in user-centred design, interaction design, and design thinking.
- The ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive user experiences.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to delivering high-quality design work.
- Awareness of current UX trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
- Experience using AI tools to enhance design workflows or improve productivity.
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years’ experience as a Product Designer or Product Experience Designer.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating digital product design work.
- Experience designing across web and mobile platforms, with a particular focus on e-commerce or transactional experiences.
- Strong interaction design and information architecture skills.
- Experience creating wireframes, mock-ups, high-fidelity designs, and interactive prototypes.
- Experience conducting usability testing and supporting user research activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, including component libraries and design systems.
- Experience maintaining scalable design systems and shared design assets.
- Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation.
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0 AA or later).
- Experience using AI-powered design or productivity tools within the design process.
- Visual or communication design experience and motion design or micro-interactions experience are beneficial.
- UX research expertise. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JSON.
- Experience within fintech, payments, or financial services is advantageous (not mandatory)
