We’re partnering with a growing mid-sized insurance organization seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of modern digital solutions while developing and mentoring a high-performing engineering team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers responsible for delivering scalable business-critical applications.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, product leaders, architects, and technology teams to deliver strategic initiatives.
  • Guide technical direction and architectural decisions to ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and maintainable.
  • Lead the planning, estimation, execution, and successful delivery of complex software initiatives.
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including automation, quality engineering, observability, and continuous delivery.
  • Evaluate new technologies, platforms, and tools that can improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.
  • Manage team capacity, resource planning, prioritization, and delivery commitments.
  • Provide transparency into project progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes through effective stakeholder communication.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to ensure alignment between technical solutions and business objectives.
  • Identify and address technical challenges while balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term sustainability.
  • Support employee growth through coaching, performance management, career development, and ongoing mentorship.
  • Promote Agile delivery principles and help drive continuous process improvement across the organization.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise software solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams in an Agile environment.
  • Proven success managing technical teams while delivering large-scale business and technology initiatives.
  • Strong experience designing and supporting distributed, cloud-based applications and services.
  • Deep understanding of modern software architecture, application development, and software delivery practices.
  • Experience leading technical discussions and influencing architectural decisions across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of application integration, API design, event-driven systems, and modern development patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering talent.
  • Experience managing priorities, project risks, dependencies, and competing business demands.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Exposure to highly regulated or complex enterprise environments is beneficial.

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Experience building and supporting solutions within modern cloud environments.
  • Background in enterprise application development using contemporary programming languages and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, APIs, messaging technologies, and integration platforms.
  • Experience with containerization, orchestration, and automated deployment practices.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code, automation frameworks, and modern operational practices.
  • Experience implementing security, compliance, quality, and governance standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with modern monitoring, logging, and observability practices.
  • Experience working with both relational and non-relational database technologies.
  • Exposure to modern web and user-facing application technologies.
  • Knowledge of Agile planning, delivery management, and software lifecycle tools.
  • Interest or experience in emerging technologies, automation, artificial intelligence, or advanced analytics is a plus.

Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $170,000-$210,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, skills, scope of responsibilities, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
