Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in state product filings within the Property & Casualty insurance industry
- Strong knowledge of state insurance regulations and product compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience with SERFF and state filing processes
- Experience responding to regulatory objections and communicating with state insurance departments
- Previous experience mentoring, coaching, or providing guidance to filing analysts
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with workers’ compensation, NCCI, ISO, or bureau-related filings is beneficial
- Ability to work remotely with limited travel as needed
Job Summary / Introduction
We are seeking a State Filings Team Lead to support Property & Casualty insurance regulatory compliance across multiple states. This role will lead state filing activities, provide guidance on product compliance, and serve as a key liaison between regulatory agencies and internal Product, Underwriting, Compliance, and Technology teams.
The State Filings Team Lead will ensure product documents, regulatory filings, and reporting requirements remain aligned with applicable state laws and regulations. The role will also mentor filing analysts and coordinate regulatory changes through implementation.
Detailed Job Description
- Lead state filing initiatives and provide guidance on filing strategy, requirements, and execution
- Mentor, coach, and train filing analysts to ensure quality and consistency
- Research state insurance laws and regulations and assess their impact on products and business practices
- Prepare and submit state filings through SERFF
- Communicate with state insurance departments and respond to regulatory objections and follow-up requests
- Partner with Product, Underwriting, and Compliance teams on changes to forms, rates, rules, surcharges, and other regulatory requirements
- Oversee annual regulatory filings and ensure timely submission and completion
- Coordinate workers’ compensation updates resulting from bureau and NCCI filing changes
- Monitor ISO changes and coordinate implementation of approved product updates
- Perform quality control reviews of filings and related documentation
- Support state-specific regulatory requirements and workers’ compensation bureau accounts
- Partner with Technology teams to ensure regulatory and product changes are accurately reflected in business systems
- Track regulatory developments and communicate relevant changes to internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate filing records and manage multiple projects while meeting regulatory deadlines
- Perform other related regulatory compliance duties as needed
