Job Summary / Introduction
We are partnered with a leading insurance organization to identify an experienced SVP of Mortgage and Loan Operations to oversee the organization’s mortgage loan portfolio and lead the broader loan operations function.
This is a senior leadership position with significant responsibility across mortgage origination, servicing, post-closing operations, risk management, compliance, and operational strategy. The successful candidate will operate with a strong commercial and entrepreneurial mindset, balancing day-to-day operational oversight with a focus on business growth, relationship management, and long-term strategy.
The role will lead and develop the mortgage operations team while ensuring appropriate processes, controls, technology, and governance are in place to support an efficient, compliant, and scalable loan operation.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- Extensive experience within mortgage lending and loan operations, including senior leadership experience
- Strong understanding of mortgage regulations, compliance, risk management, and industry standards
- Proven experience overseeing mortgage loan operations from origination through servicing and post-closing
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute operational and mortgage lending strategies
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to build, manage, and develop high-performing teams
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and resource management
- Experience with process improvement, automation, and technology implementation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
- Ability to operate strategically while maintaining strong oversight of operational detail
- Commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities for business growth and operational improvement
Detailed Job Description
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the mortgage and loan operations function, ensuring processes, controls, and resources align with broader business objectives
- Oversee day-to-day loan operations, including documentation, origination, servicing, and post-closing activities
- Provide leadership and direction to loan operations managers and staff, establishing performance expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through process optimization, automation, and technology adoption
- Streamline loan processing workflows to improve turnaround times, accuracy, productivity, and the overall customer experience
- Establish, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls across loan operations
- Ensure compliance with applicable mortgage regulations, industry standards, and internal requirements
- Identify operational and regulatory risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and controls
- Maintain oversight of the mortgage loan portfolio, including appropriate auditing and quality control throughout the loan lifecycle
- Oversee relationships with external service providers, including loan servicing partners and technology vendors, ensuring performance and contractual requirements are met
- Partner with technology teams to evaluate, implement, and enhance loan processing systems and operational platforms
- Develop and monitor key operational metrics and reporting to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement
- Support annual budgeting and maintain effective financial management of the department
- Stay informed on developments across the mortgage lending industry, including regulatory changes, market trends, and emerging technologies
- Focus on delivering a seamless customer experience through efficient loan processes, timely communication, and high service standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders to support the growth and development of the mortgage lending business
