Tax Manager | Irvine, Los Angeles or San Diego, CA
Ready for a role where you can take on more, be seen more, and genuinely enjoy the people you work with?
There are plenty of Tax Manager opportunities in public accounting. But not all of them offer the chance to work closely with experienced leaders, build meaningful client relationships and take on the kind of responsibility that helps you grow your career.
Our client is an established, highly regarded public accounting firm with offices across Southern California and a strong reputation for delivering thoughtful, high-quality advice to privately held businesses, their owners and high-net-worth individuals.
The firm combines technical excellence with a genuinely collaborative culture. Partners are accessible, teams work closely together, and there is far less of the unnecessary hierarchy and politics that can sometimes come with larger firms.
As the tax practice continues to grow, the firm is looking for a Tax Manager to join the team in Irvine, Los Angeles or San Diego.
This could be an ideal move for an experienced Tax Manager looking for a better long-term environment, or a strong Senior Tax professional who is ready to step into a broader management role.
The opportunity
You’ll work with a varied and sophisticated portfolio of clients, taking ownership of engagements while acting as a trusted advisor to the businesses and individuals you support.
This is a role with real visibility. You’ll work closely with Partners and senior leaders, have direct exposure to clients and play an important part in developing both the team and the wider practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Managing a diverse portfolio of tax clients and engagements.
-
Reviewing complex tax returns and delivering high-quality tax advice.
-
Building strong, long-term relationships with clients and becoming a trusted point of contact.
-
Working closely with Partners and senior colleagues on planning, advisory and complex tax matters.
-
Managing, mentoring and developing junior members of the tax team.
-
Identifying opportunities to add value to existing client relationships.
-
Helping ensure engagements are delivered efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
The culture
The firm offers a refreshing alternative for public accounting professionals who want to do challenging, rewarding work without getting lost in layers of management.
There is a strong sense of teamwork, an entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine willingness to listen to good ideas. You’ll have access to senior decision-makers, the opportunity to make an impact beyond your immediate client portfolio and the support to continue developing your technical and leadership skills.
For professionals coming from a larger firm, it can be an opportunity to maintain the quality and complexity of the work while gaining greater visibility and a closer connection to clients and leadership.
For those already in a mid-sized practice, it offers the chance to join a well-established firm with a strong platform, excellent colleagues and genuine opportunities to broaden your experience.
What we’re looking for
We’re keen to speak with tax professionals who have built a strong foundation in public accounting and are ready for a role with greater ownership and influence.
You are likely to be a Tax Senior Manager, Tax Manager or experienced Senior Tax Associate, with experience working across a broad range of business and individual tax matters. A CPA or progress towards the qualification would be advantageous.
Just as importantly, you’ll enjoy working with clients, supporting the development of others and being part of a team where people are encouraged to take ownership of their work.
Why consider it?
If you’re thinking about a move, you’re probably looking for more than just a change of employer.
This is an opportunity to join a firm where good work is recognised, senior leaders are accessible and your contribution can make a genuine difference.
You’ll take on meaningful client responsibility, work alongside experienced professionals and continue building the technical, commercial and leadership skills that will shape the next stage of your career.
