Senior Accountant (Workday Required)
About the Opportunity
A growing and highly respected specialty insurance organization is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong Workday Financials experience to join its Accounting & Finance team. This position will play a key role in financial reporting, month-end close activities, budgeting and forecasting support, and ongoing optimization of the organization’s Workday environment.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with hands-on Workday knowledge and the ability to partner effectively across finance and operational teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Lead and support month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger and perform detailed financial statement analysis.
- Assist with external audit requests, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Partner with business leaders to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and analyze spending trends.
- Prepare variance analyses and provide insight into financial performance.
- Utilize Workday reporting and planning capabilities to enhance forecasting accuracy and reporting visibility.
Workday Financials Administration
- Serve as the Finance team’s primary Workday subject matter expert.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Workday Financials functionality and reporting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements.
- Provide training and support to end users on Workday best practices and reporting tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday Financials (required).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, financial modeling, and data analysis.
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning is highly preferred.

- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
