Accounting Manager – Statutory & Investment Accounting

I’m partnering with a well-established and financially strong insurance organization to identify an experienced Accounting Manager to join its finance leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to take ownership of statutory reporting, investment accounting, and team leadership within a dynamic Property & Casualty insurance environment. The role offers broad exposure across the finance function while partnering with senior leadership on key financial initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Accounting Manager, you’ll oversee critical accounting and financial reporting functions, including:
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and applicable insurance regulations.
- Oversee investment accounting, including valuation, income recognition, and reconciliations.
- Manage the annual external audit process.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure financial data integrity.
- Partner cross-functionally to improve processes and support strategic business initiatives.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff while driving performance and professional growth.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).
- Experience with investment accounting and insurance financial reporting.
- ERP experience (SAP or similar platforms preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and SUMIF functions.
- CPA designation and/or Master’s degree are highly preferred.
