As an Actuarial Director you will be responsible for leading pricing strategy for the E&S property segment giving you complete oversight and management of the E&S Property portfolio. Responsibilities include rate adequacy, segmentation, CAT risk analytics, This is a high-priority hire for the business as the director will work closely with risk, underwriting, claims, and finance leadership to assist with business strategy, navigating market cycles, and support risk selection.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates performance and pricing of insurance and reinsurance programs and analyzes their financial impact in coordination with catastrophe risk modeling teams.
- Executes data analytics support for pricing, reserving, and modeling needs across risk and actuarial functions.
- Build complex speciality models with underwriting and claims teams to assess risk exposures and develop pricing strategies.
- Lead pricing strategy for the Property E&S segment, including rate adequacy, segmentation, and portfolio steering.
- Manage and mentor a direct report, with the opportunity to grow the team as the segment scales.
- Build pricing frameworks, tools, and models to support profitable growth.
- Partner with underwriting leadership to navigate market cycles, evaluate opportunities, and support disciplined risk selection.
- Develop catastrophe modeling insights, including event level analytics, tail risk understanding, and capital impact.
- Drive innovation in pricing methodology, data usage, and portfolio analytics.
- Influence strategic decisions at the executive level in a high visibility role.
Skills, Knowledge & Ability:
- 10+ years of P&C Actuarial experience with a minimum of four years of E&S Property pricing experience with knowledge of building pricing infrastructure.
- ACAS or FCAS qualified is required
- Technical Skills: Excel, SQL, Python
- Understand of CAT modeling or CAT risk
- Ability to demonstrate management or leadership experience
