Location: Remote / Hybrid – U.S.
Salary: $95,000-$130,000 base

An established global insurance organisation is looking for an Actuary II specialising in Personal Auto Predictive Modeling to join its actuarial pricing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded actuary who enjoys combining actuarial expertise, predictive modelling and coding to directly influence pricing strategies across multiple U.S. states.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for developing, maintaining and improving actuarial models used to support personal auto pricing. You’ll work across multiple states, taking into account different regulatory and business requirements while helping to develop more efficient and scalable modelling processes.

The role has a strong technical focus, with opportunities to use SQL and Python to automate workflows, improve modelling efficiency and introduce new data sources and techniques.

You’ll also work closely with actuarial and cross-functional teams to ensure modelling assumptions, inputs and outputs are aligned, while taking ownership of model documentation, validation and governance.

There will also be opportunities to mentor junior modelers and contribute to the development of technical best practices within the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain predictive actuarial models for Personal Auto across multiple U.S. states
  • Build automated and scalable modelling workflows using SQL and Python
  • Identify and incorporate new data sources, features and modelling techniques
  • Analyse model performance and translate results into actionable business insights
  • Partner with actuarial and cross-functional teams on assumptions, inputs and outputs
  • Support model documentation, validation, governance and regulatory compliance
  • Keep models up to date with changing state regulations and business requirements
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to technical development across the function

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 3+ CAS exams passed, with MAS-I/MAS-II preferred
  • Approximately 3+ years of Personal Auto pricing/modeling experience
  • At least 1 year of hands-on actuarial modelling experience
  • Strong SQL programming skills
  • Experience with Python is highly desirable
  • Experience with modelling platforms such as Earnix would be an advantage
  • Demonstrable experience automating actuarial processes and developing scalable modelling frameworks
  • Strong understanding of actuarial pricing concepts and predictive modelling
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and actuarial teams

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is a chance to join a sophisticated insurance organisation where your modelling work will have a direct impact on pricing decisions across multiple states.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with modern modelling techniques, data and technology while continuing to develop your actuarial career. The role offers a particularly strong fit for someone who is around the 3-4 year experience mark, progressing towards ACAS, and looking to build a more technically focused career in predictive modelling.

The organisation offers a collaborative working environment, flexible remote/hybrid arrangements, comprehensive benefits and opportunities for ongoing professional and career development.

If you’re a Personal Auto actuary with strong modelling and SQL skills and are looking for your next step into a technically focused predictive modelling role, we’d be keen to hear from you.
