Investment Professionals – Asset-Based & Specialty Finance Credit | New York, NY
(Hiring across multiple levels)
A leading multi-strategy alternative asset manager is expanding its alternative credit platform, with openings spanning both mid-level and senior Investment Professional roles. The team targets credit-oriented investments in markets underserved by traditional lenders and mainstream capital markets – spanning consumer and commercial specialty finance, mortgages, hard assets, equipment leasing, and opportunistic corporate credit – investing across the capital structure in debt, equity, and hybrid instruments.
Investment Professional (2+ years’ experience)
- Work across multiple deals simultaneously – structuring, investment committee, ongoing asset and relationship management
- Build and maintain financial models; lead due diligence efforts
- Support legal documentation, including term sheets and key-terms negotiation
- Help manage transaction processes alongside senior investment professionals
- Mentor junior team members; contribute to strategic planning
Vice President (8+ years’ experience)
- Lead transactions end-to-end with significant autonomy – from origination through investment committee and closing
- Serve as primary point of contact for counterparties, borrowers, and advisors
- Drive investment committee materials and credit memoranda; manage senior-level escalations
- Directly negotiate legal documentation, including credit agreements and commercial terms
- Oversee and mentor associates/analysts on live deals
- Own transaction processes with limited senior oversight; build originator and intermediary relationships
What’s common to both:
- Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills, comfortable with data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High attention to detail, able to juggle multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative, relationship-oriented mindset
- Bachelor’s degree; CFA or advanced degree a plus at the senior level
The core difference between the two levels is ownership and autonomy: the Investment Professional role works transactions under senior guidance, while the VP leads transactions independently, owns counterparty relationships, and carries deal-team leadership responsibility.
