Assistant Manager, Finance & Regulatory Reporting

About the Role

An established international insurer is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its Finance and Risk team in Singapore.

This is a broad finance position covering financial reporting, regulatory submissions, IFRS 17, reinsurance calculations and process improvement. The role is particularly suitable for an experienced insurance auditor looking to make their first move into an in-house finance position.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior finance stakeholders and take ownership of recurring reporting, reconciliations and regulatory deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare local and group financial reporting packages
  • Support IFRS 17 reporting for the Singapore business
  • Prepare quarterly Assets Under Management reporting
  • Prepare regulatory and capital-related submissions
  • Liaise with actuarial stakeholders on regulatory reporting requirements
  • Perform quarterly reinsurance calculations and respond to reinsurer queries
  • Review fee calculations generated from policy administration systems
  • Support custodian closing activities where required
  • Assist with reconciliations, data validation and financial controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance and accounting processes
  • Support external auditors and respond to ad hoc audit queries
  • Explore the use of AI, automation and data tools to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA or CA would be advantageous
  • Approximately five years of relevant experience
  • Big Four external audit experience covering insurance clients is strongly preferred
  • Candidates with either life, general insurance or reinsurance audit experience may be considered
  • Good understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations and internal controls
  • Exposure to IFRS 17, regulatory reporting or insurance accounting would be advantageous
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis capabilities
  • Comfortable working with detailed financial information and manual reporting processes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Proactive, curious and willing to use AI or automation tools to improve existing processes
