Associate General Counsel, P&C Insurance Regulatory [NYC, NJ, or CT]

Our client, a leading global Property & Casualty insurance organization, is seeking an experienced insurance regulatory attorney to join its U.S. regulatory legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile strategic initiatives while partnering closely with business leaders, regulators, and internal stakeholders across a large and complex insurance platform.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review insurance regulatory filings, including holding company and change-of-control transactions.
  • Partner with state insurance departments on filings, approvals, examinations, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Advise business teams on P&C insurance regulatory matters impacting strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations.
  • Support financial and market conduct examinations, consumer complaints, and regulatory requests.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and provide practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Government Affairs on strategic regulatory projects and enterprise initiatives.

Key Skills

  • MUST HAVE: JD & admittance to at least one state.
  • MUST HAVE: 4+ years of major law firm or in-house experience in the insurance industry.
  • MUST HAVE: Property & Casualty insurance regulatory experience.
  • Experience preparing insurance regulatory filings and interacting with state insurance departments.
  • Strong drafting, legal research, analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with business leaders and cross-functional teams.

Compensation

  • Up to $275k total compensation
  • ~$170-180k base
  • Discretionary bonus
  • Stock potential

  • NYC, NJ, or CT Offices
  • Hybrid (4 days in office)
