Senior Cloud Engineer – AWS / CDK | Fully Remote | Contract (Potential Contract to hire)
We’re partnering with a leading cloud engineering firm on a large-scale AWS transformation program, and they’re looking for Senior and Lead Cloud Engineers to join the team.
This is a major enterprise cloud transformation focused on migrating workloads and infrastructure from on-premises environments into AWS. You’ll be joining a large engineering organization working across a complex environment, with the broader program expected to continue for approximately 24 months.
This is not an environment where they’re looking for engineers who simply execute existing scripts or follow predefined infrastructure designs. They want hands-on engineers with a strong software engineering mindset who can build, automate, solve problems, and make sound technical decisions.
Key priorities include:
- Designing, building, and deploying AWS cloud infrastructure at scale.
- Developing cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK with TypeScript.
- Building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Automating infrastructure, deployment, and engineering processes.
- Supporting large-scale cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
- Working with containers and modern cloud technologies.
- Developing reusable engineering solutions rather than one-off implementations.
- Applying strong software engineering principles to cloud infrastructure.
- Working across a large and complex enterprise environment.
What we’re looking for:
- We’re looking for a strong, hands-on Cloud Engineer who is comfortable writing code, building infrastructure, and solving technical problems rather than simply executing predefined solutions.
- You should have strong experience working with AWS cloud infrastructure, with hands-on experience using AWS CDK being particularly important. You’ll ideally have built infrastructure using CDK and TypeScript, alongside solid Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform.
- We’re also looking for someone who has worked with containers and containerization technologies, understands configuration management and automation, and has a strong foundation in software engineering principles. Experience with Python, TypeScript, or another strong programming language is important.
- Experience supporting large-scale cloud migration or transformation programs would be highly valuable, particularly if you’ve worked within complex enterprise environments.
Must haves:
- Recent hands-on AWS engineering experience.
- Hands-on AWS CDK experience.
- Strong TypeScript experience, particularly with AWS CDK.
- Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally with Terraform.
- Experience with containers / containerization.
- A genuine software engineering and coding mindset.
This is a senior-level engineering opportunity where technical depth matters more than simply having a certain number of years of experience. The team wants engineers who understand what they’re building, can challenge existing approaches, and are comfortable taking ownership of technical problems.
