This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing a specialist case management team and ensuring the smooth progression of HNW and UHNW cases from submission through policy issuance.
The successful candidate will work closely with distribution partners, international brokers, private bankers, underwriting teams, reinsurers, medical providers and internal stakeholders to deliver a high-quality client and distributor experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team responsible for complex HNW and UHNW new business cases.
- Oversee cases from initial submission through underwriting assessment and policy issuance.
- Act as the senior escalation point for high-value, priority and non-standard cases.
- Manage jumbo sum-assured cases, multi-life arrangements, business succession cases and key-person insurance applications.
- Coordinate cases involving cross-border, residency and ownership complexities.
- Work closely with underwriting teams, reinsurers and medical providers to ensure cases progress efficiently.
- Review case documentation and identify potential underwriting, medical or financial requirements early in the process.
- Ensure complete and accurate information is provided before cases are submitted for underwriting assessment.
- Translate technical underwriting requirements into clear and practical guidance for distributors.
- Provide a high level of service to international brokers, private bankers, relationship managers and other priority distribution partners.
- Manage expectations regarding documentation, timelines, underwriting requirements and outcomes.
- Monitor case milestones, turnaround times, rework levels and case drop-offs.
- Maintain strong case documentation, governance and audit trails.
- Ensure compliance with applicable AML, KYC, financial justification and regulatory requirements.
- Support process improvements, workflow enhancements and automation initiatives.
- Contribute to the continued development of the HNW case management operating model.
Requirements
- Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Approximately 10 years of experience across life insurance new business, case management, underwriting operations or a related function.
- At least four to five years of experience supporting HNW, UHNW, VIP or complex life insurance cases.
- Previous experience leading or managing a case management, new business or insurance operations team.
- Strong experience with Bermuda-regulated or offshore HNW life insurance products.
- Knowledge of Singapore and Hong Kong-regulated life insurance products would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience managing jumbo, complex or non-standard insurance cases.
- Strong understanding of life insurance underwriting principles and processes.
- Familiarity with medical and financial underwriting requirements.
- Experience coordinating with reinsurers and understanding reinsurance workflows.
- Ability to manage multiple complex cases and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with insurance brokers, private banks, relationship managers or HNW distribution partners.
- Strong judgement and the ability to escalate cases appropriately.
- High attention to detail with strong follow-through and ownership.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment involving senior stakeholders and demanding clients.
Preferred Background
Candidates may come from:
- A direct life insurance carrier
- An offshore or international life insurer
- An international HNW insurance brokerage
- A private wealth insurance platform
- A bancassurance or private banking insurance operation
Direct insurer experience is preferred. Candidates from international insurance brokers will also be considered where they possess strong technical case management, Bermuda product and team leadership experience.
Insurance qualifications such as LOMA, FLMI, ANZIIF, CLU or equivalent would be advantageous.
