Insurance Operations – Surplus Lines
About the Opportunity
A leading global insurance organization is seeking an experienced insurance operations professional to join its Broker Services & Producer Licensing team. This role sits at the intersection of insurance operations, regulatory compliance, and licensing governance, supporting the organization’s surplus lines business across multiple jurisdictions.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in insurance operations, agency licensing, producer licensing, carrier onboarding, or commercial insurance administration who enjoys improving processes, managing regulatory requirements, and partnering across multiple business functions.
What You’ll Do
As a key member of the operations team, you will help oversee the operational processes that support surplus lines compliance while ensuring the organization remains aligned with state insurance regulations and internal governance standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage producer and agency licensing activities across multiple states, ensuring compliance with applicable insurance regulations.
- Coordinate operational processes related to surplus lines business, including affidavits, broker responsible forms, policy documentation, record retention, and regulatory filings.
- Track premium tax reporting deadlines, filing calendars, and regulatory obligations while partnering with Finance and Compliance to ensure timely completion.
- Support regulatory examinations, Department of Insurance inquiries, and internal audits by gathering documentation and coordinating responses.
- Monitor changes to state insurance and surplus lines regulations and work with business stakeholders to implement operational updates.
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Underwriting, Distribution, and Operations teams to strengthen controls and improve regulatory processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce compliance risk.
- Maintain reporting, governance documentation, and operational metrics for leadership.
- Utilize systems such as NIPR, Sircon, Vertafore, and state insurance department portals to support licensing and regulatory activities.

Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience within the insurance industry.
- Experience supporting producer licensing, agency licensing, or surplus lines operations.
- Familiarity with surplus lines regulations and multi-state insurance requirements.
- Experience supporting regulatory examinations, internal audits, or compliance reviews.
- Working knowledge of:
- NIPR
- Sircon
- Vertafore
- State Department of Insurance filing processes
- Premium tax reporting processes
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional business partners.
Licensing
Candidates who currently maintain insurance producer licenses are strongly preferred.
Preferred licenses include:
- Property & Casualty (P&C)
- Surplus Lines
Candidates with relevant insurance operations or compliance experience who do not currently hold all licenses but are willing to obtain additional licensing will also be considered.
