Manager – Audit & Business Advisory Services
Irvine, CA | $120,000-$150,000 + Benefits | Full-Time
A Different Kind of Public Accounting Opportunity
Are you an experienced Audit Manager who wants to continue working on sophisticated engagements while gaining broader exposure to business advisory, technical accounting and client consulting?
Our client is an established, independently owned public accounting firm in Southern California serving a diverse middle-market client base across industries including real estate, technology, life sciences, manufacturing and nonprofits.
The firm combines the technical depth you’d expect from a larger national firm with a more personal, entrepreneurial client environment.
The Opportunity
As a Manager within the Audit & Business Advisory Services group, you will take ownership of engagements from planning through completion while playing a key role in developing clients, people and the practice.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
-
Plan, supervise and direct all phases of audit and assurance engagements.
-
Lead engagement teams and take accountability for team performance, budgets and engagement economics.
-
Perform and review complex audit areas including revenue, accounts receivable, inventory, debt and equity.
-
Review audit documentation and ensure engagements meet the firm’s quality-control standards.
-
Identify technical accounting solutions and opportunities for clients to improve processes and controls.
-
Communicate findings, deficiencies and recommendations directly to client management and governing bodies.
-
Build and strengthen client relationships through a consultative, solutions-focused approach.
-
Mentor, coach and develop staff and senior-level professionals.
-
Participate in business development, networking and proposal opportunities.
Why Consider It?
Audit + Advisory Exposure
This isn’t an audit-only Manager position. You’ll have opportunities to develop your technical accounting and business advisory skill set, giving you broader exposure to client issues beyond the traditional audit engagement.
A More Sustainable Workload
The role targets approximately 1,550 chargeable hours annually, with busy-season weeks expected to reach approximately 55 hours. That still provides the intensity and learning of a busy season, but offers a different annual workload model from many larger public accounting environments.
Middle-Market Client Exposure
Work directly with a varied portfolio of public and private companies across multiple industries rather than being narrowly focused on one sector.
Meaningful Leadership
You’ll have genuine responsibility for engagement teams, client relationships, quality, budgets and staff development-not simply another layer of review.
What We’re Looking For
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field with an accounting emphasis.
-
4+ years of CPA-firm experience.
-
Active CPA license required.
-
Strong audit and technical accounting knowledge.
-
Experience leading engagements and developing junior professionals.
-
Strong client relationship and communication skills.
-
Experience with CCH Engagement, Bloomberg Research, ProSystem FX, Excel, Word, Teams and Adobe is preferred.
Compensation
$120,000-$150,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
If you’re an Audit Manager who wants to maintain strong technical credentials while expanding into advisory, client strategy and business development, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
