Programs Underwriter
Location: Chicago, IL
An exciting opportunity has arisen with one of my clients, they are a growing specialty insurer that’s continuing to invest heavily in its US Programs business. This is a chance to work alongside an experienced underwriting team, managing a diverse portfolio of commercial business written through established MGA partnerships.
The Role
You’ll evaluate and underwrite commercial program submissions referred by MGA partners, ensuring business aligns with underwriting appetite while helping drive profitable portfolio growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Underwrite commercial program business referred outside delegated authority.
- Apply underwriting guidelines, pricing and risk appetite.
- Conduct underwriting and authority audits with MGA partners.
- Build strong relationships with assigned MGAs.
- Support the continued growth and profitability of the Programs portfolio.
What We’re Looking For
- 3-7 years of Commercial Underwriting experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following: Commercial Property, Casualty, Auto, Inland Marine, Excess or Package.
- Exposure to classes such as Habitational, Hospitality, Transportation, Manufacturing, Wholesale or Mercantile is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, communication and decision-making skills.
- Previous desk underwriting and quoting experience.
