Risk Management Specialist – ERM

Risk Management Specialist

About the Company

Our client is a well-established insurance and financial solutions company serving insurers and commercial partners nationwide. They offer a stable, respected environment paired with the energy of a growing, evolving risk function. This is a chance to join a small but expanding Enterprise Risk Management team and play a foundational role in shaping how it operates going forward.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Risk Management Specialist to join a growing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who wants exposure across multiple areas of risk – third-party/vendor risk, fraud investigation coordination, enterprise risk reporting, and regulatory compliance support – rather than specializing narrowly in just one.

This is a great fit for someone mid career who is a self-starter, detail-oriented, and excited about the opportunity to grow alongside an expanding team over the next 1-2 years.

What You’ll Do

Third-Party Risk Management

  • Support execution and continuous improvement of the third-party risk management (TPRM) program
  • Conduct pre-contract due diligence and ongoing vendor risk assessments
  • Facilitate annual vendor reviews and track remediation of identified issues
  • Maintain vendor risk management systems and the vendor inventory database
  • Prepare vendor risk dashboards and reporting

Fraud & Investigations Support

  • Coordinate investigations of suspected fraudulent insurance claims
  • Maintain accurate investigative documentation
  • Support compliance with state anti-fraud regulations and reporting deadlines
  • Help coordinate fraud awareness training

Enterprise Risk Management

  • Support enterprise risk assessments, risk identification, and mitigation planning
  • Maintain enterprise risk registers and supporting documentation
  • Assist with control assessments and issue tracking

Risk Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, KRIs, and management reporting
  • Analyze trends and emerging risks for leadership review

Compliance & Regulatory Support

  • Review SOC 1 reports and track Complementary User Entity Controls (CUECs)
  • Support internal and external audit requests as needed

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in cross-functional strategic initiatives
  • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities across risk programs

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (equivalent experience considered)
  • Experience in enterprise risk management, compliance, fraud/investigations, vendor management, or insurance operations – a mix of these areas is ideal; you don’t need to have owned all of them
  • Insurance industry background strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with third-party risk management, vendor governance, or GRC systems a plus
  • Exposure to insurance regulatory environments a plus
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills; experience with GRC platforms or data visualization tools (Power BI a plus)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and build strong stakeholder relationships
  • A proactive, go-getter mindset – someone who looks for answers and proposes solutions rather than waiting for direction

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual bonus eligibility
  • Hybrid work model (2 days/week in office)

Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to join a small, high-visibility risk team early and help shape how it grows. You’ll work directly with senior risk leadership, gain broad cross-functional exposure, and have a clear path for advancement as the team expands.
