Senior Accountant – Life Reinsurance

Location: Bermuda

Our client is a leading global life reinsurer with over $100bn in assets and a strong track record of growth through acquisitions and reinsurance transactions.

Due to continued expansion, they are seeking a high-performing accounting professional to join their Bermuda finance team. This opportunity is ideal for a Big 4 Manager, Assistant Manager, or experienced Senior with life insurance or reinsurance audit experience looking to move into industry.

Responsibilities

  • Own accounting and reporting for assigned life and annuity reinsurance portfolios.
  • Support quarterly and annual close processes.
  • Assist with onboarding new reinsurance transactions and acquired blocks of business.
  • Prepare financial reporting, analysis, and management commentary.
  • Partner with actuarial, investments, and finance teams on strategic initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen controls.
  • Support audit, regulatory, and statutory reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Accounting degree and CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience within:
    • Big 4 audit with life insurance or reinsurance clients; or
    • Life insurance or reinsurance finance.
  • Strong understanding of insurance accounting and financial reporting.
  • Exposure to US GAAP, IFRS, or Bermuda statutory reporting is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
