Senior Accountant – Luxembourg – German Speaker

Duration: ASAP – 31 January 2027, with potential extension
Workload: Initially 50% (approx. 20 hours/week), increasing to 80-100% during year-end closing
Language: Fluent German and English required
The Opportunity
We are currently supporting a leading international organisation with the appointment of an experienced Senior Accountant to provide interim support to their Luxembourg-based Accounting function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an operationally strong accountant who is comfortable working independently within a complex international environment and can provide hands-on support across the full accounting lifecycle.
The assignment will initially be part-time, with flexibility to increase working hours at short notice. As the business moves into year-end closing from October onwards, the requirement is expected to increase to 80-100%.
Due to Luxembourg legal requirements, the successful candidate must be available to work 100% onsite in Luxembourg.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day A-Z accounting activities
- Bank accounting and reconciliation
- Vendor / accounts payable accounting
- Customer / accounts receivable accounting
- Processing and management of bulk payments
- Support monthly closing activities
- Support annual financial statements and year-end closing
- Assist with general accounting operations and operational stabilisation
- Work closely with the local Finance and Accounting teams
- Provide additional support during periods of increased workload and transition
Ideal Background / Experience:
- Strong hands-on accounting background, ideally at Senior Accountant level
- Proven experience across A-Z / operational accounting activities
- Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Experience working within international or complex corporate environments
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Fluent German and English communication skills
- Availability to work 100% onsite in Luxembourg
- Experience with Document Capture solutions
- Knowledge of local GAAP, particularly Belgian and French GAAP
- Previous experience supporting accounting teams through periods of transition, operational change or increased workload
