Senior Data and Reporting Analyst

Senior Data & Reporting Analyst | East Sussex (hybrid, 2 days) | £70-75k + benefits | Permanent

An insurance business is hiring a Senior Data & Reporting Analyst into its Data, MI & Automation team. It’s a team of eight, and you’d report to the Head of Data, MI & Automation.

The role

  • Own business-critical MI, including legacy Excel/VBA reporting, and keep it running reliably in the short term.
  • Then modernise it: move manual, spreadsheet-based reporting into governed Power BI, Power Query and Power Automate solutions.
  • Support a data platform programme bringing in new tooling (Databricks, Ataccama, Timbr), focused on data validation and mapping.
  • Build Power BI reports and data models (star schema, DAX), with proper documentation, lineage and reconciliations.
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders, including some demanding ones. Challenge requirements where needed and explain technical points clearly.
  • Act as a senior voice in the team: coach and upskill colleagues. There is no line management for now, but there is scope for it later.

What you’ll need

  • A track record of owning MI/BI reporting end to end.
  • Advanced Excel. VBA/macro experience is a real plus.
  • Strong Power BI (data modelling, DAX, workspaces, refresh) and Power Query.
  • Working SQL.
  • Experience migrating manual reporting to automated, governed solutions.
  • Confident stakeholder management.

Nice to have

  • Insurance or financial services data (claims, policy, customer).
  • Power Automate.
  • Databricks or data quality/catalogue tools.
  • Agile ways of working.
  • Practical use of AI tools in reporting.
