A leading property & casualty insurance company is looking to add a Senior Java Developer to their growing technology team. This position will play a key role in enhancing and supporting the company’s core insurance platform built on Guidewire (Guidewire experience not mandatory), while helping drive modernization efforts through AI-assisted development tools, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced developer who enjoys building enterprise applications, mentoring other developers, and collaborating across Agile teams to deliver high-impact technology solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain core insurance applications using Guidewire and modern development technologies.
- Build integrations, RESTful APIs, and scalable application frameworks supporting enterprise business systems.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and automated testing.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and engineering teams to estimate, plan, and deliver new functionality.
- Participate in code reviews while promoting software quality, testing automation, and development best practices.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance across the team.
- Coordinate production deployments and provide production support as needed.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI-enabled automation throughout the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of software development experience building enterprise applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong experience with object-oriented programming and software architecture.
- Experience developing RESTful services and microservices.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Experience building integrations using web services or messaging technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- P&C insurance experience and working with Guidewire technologies are a plus
- Property & Casualty insurance industry experience.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Cloud development experience.
- Experience using AI-powered software development tools and applying responsible AI practices.
