Dallas, TX (Hybrid) Competitive Base Salary + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

I am representing an established and highly respected specialty commercial insurer is seeking a Senior Energy Underwriter to join its growing underwriting team in Dallas. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial lines underwriter looking to take ownership of a profitable book of business while working alongside a highly regarded leadership team.

The role will focus on underwriting complex Energy-related risks, managing agency relationships, driving profitable growth, and maintaining a strong presence within the broker and agency community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of new and renewal commercial lines business.
  • Evaluate risk exposures, determine appropriate pricing, and negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Analyse underwriting data, loss experience, and market conditions to make profitable underwriting decisions.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow and retain agency relationships.
  • Identify new business opportunities and drive production through agency visits, presentations, and market engagement.
  • Monitor account performance throughout the policy lifecycle and implement action plans when exposures change.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional service and underwriting results.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of policy forms, coverage structures, and market trends.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of Commercial Lines Underwriting experience.
  • Strong Construction underwriting experience is required.
  • Exposure to Energy/Oil & Gas risks is highly desirable.
  • Experience underwriting both new and renewal business.
  • Proven ability to build and manage broker and agency relationships.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience handling middle-market and/or large commercial accounts preferred.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory as needed.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
