We’re partnering with a leading organization looking for an experienced SMS Architect to provide technical architecture leadership across a complex communications platform environment.
The successful candidate will work across multiple technical domains and teams, helping shape the target and transition architecture while ensuring architectural decisions are understood and sequenced effectively across the wider technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements

Strong technical architecture experience across multiple domains, with a clear understanding of transition architecture and cross-domain impacts (e.g. how login/authentication affects downstream systems).

Broad Enterprise Architecture experience, specifically within SMS / communications platforms.

Ability to work across 3-4 teams, understand integration patterns and assess the implications of architectural decisions across each.

Experience with build vs. buy vs. reuse decisions and advising on the right approach.

Someone who can close cross-domain technical decisions and translate them into sequenced, value-led delivery work – without replacing Product (outcomes/prioritisation) or Engineering (estimates/delivery).

Experience across the SMS stack, including delivery, short codes, templates, consent, retention and orchestration.

Ability to define target and transition architecture, including how DCP, EP, SLX, Chorus and LOB systems fit together.

Vendor evaluation experience, ideally staying through the first end-to-end implementation.

Understanding of the operating model: vendor management, consent enforcement, records/legal hold, incident ownership and LOB (Line of Business) adoption.
Non-Negotiable Experience:

Strong Enterprise / Technical Architecture experience across multiple domains, with proven experience understanding and managing cross-domain impacts.

Direct SMS / Communications Platform Architecture experience – candidates must have a strong understanding of the SMS stack, including delivery, short codes, templates, consent, retention and orchestration.

Proven experience making and closing architectural decisions across multiple teams, particularly around build vs. buy vs. reuse, integration’s and target/transition architecture.

Vendor evaluation and implementation experience, ideally with involvement through the first end-to-end implementation.
