Manager, Statutory Accounting

Oliver James is currently partnering with a leading global property and casualty insurance organization seeking a Manager, Statutory Accounting to join its finance team.

This position will play an important role in the company’s statutory and GAAP reporting processes, with responsibility for financial close activities, general-ledger reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and investment-related accounting. The successful candidate will work closely with broader finance team to ensure financial information is accurate, properly supported, and submitted within required deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory filings
  • Support GAAP financial reporting and submission requirements
  • Prepare statutory financial reports requested by state regulators, legal teams, and other internal stakeholders
  • Ensure financial information is reported accurately and in accordance with applicable statutory accounting principles
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for regulatory filings
  • Assist with data verification and investigate discrepancies identified during the reporting process
  • Support quarterly and year-end financial close processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
  • Complete balance-sheet account reconciliations and resolve outstanding differences
  • Perform general-ledger and bank-account reconciliations
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of operational accounts
  • Review financial activity for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate accounting treatment
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation when required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience within property and casualty insurance required with an emphasis on statutory reporting
  • Experience with general-ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Understanding of corporate accounting and finance principles
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • CPA designation or progress toward a CPA is preferred but not required
