Senior Internal Audit – 3-month Contract

The Senior Internal Auditor supports the delivery of the internal audit plan by planning and executing risk-based audits across the organisation. Working closely with the Internal Audit Manager, the role helps evaluate the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks while ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations and the International Internal Audit (IIA) Standards. The successful candidate will also contribute to identifying emerging risks and recommending practical improvements that strengthen business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, perform, and document internal audit assignments in line with established audit methodologies and professional standards.
  • Build an understanding of business operations, key processes, risks, and control environments through engagement with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Use data analytics and other audit techniques to improve risk assessment, evaluate controls, and provide meaningful business insights.
  • Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls and identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and risk management.
  • Prepare clear, concise audit reports that outline observations, root causes, associated risks, and practical recommendations.
  • Develop audit documentation, including process maps, risk assessments, audit programs, and testing procedures.
  • Manage audit assignments independently, ensuring work is completed within agreed timelines while keeping management informed of progress and emerging issues.
  • Support the preparation of periodic reports for senior leadership and the Audit Committee.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory developments, industry trends, and evolving audit practices through continuous professional development.
  • Interact with key internal and external stakeholders: Audit Committee, Board of Directors, Senior Management Team; Business Unit Management & Group Internal Audit Function, Financial Services Regulators and External Auditors

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or another relevant discipline.
  • ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIA, or equivalent professional qualification is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an internal or external audit role within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial services operations, risk management, compliance, internal controls, and control testing.

Other requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the International Internal Audit (IIA) Standards.
  • Experience with agile auditing methodologies is desirable.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and audit tools is an advantage.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Good understanding of business objectives and operational needs.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Results-oriented with a proactive approach and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
