Senior Software Engineer – C# / AWS / React

We’re partnering with a large insurance and financial services organization that is expanding its internal engineering capability and hiring multiple Senior Software Engineers across both Platform Engineering and Functional Application Engineering.

These are hands-on engineering roles with significant ownership over architecture, technical decision-making, and delivery. The team is looking for engineers who are comfortable challenging assumptions, influencing technical direction, and working effectively with external delivery partners.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and own scalable applications and platform services using C#, AWS, APIs, GraphQL, and relational databases

• Develop highly event-driven systems supporting complex business workflows

• Work across either:

  • Functional Engineering: owning the application layer and services for a specific business domain such as Claims or Underwriting

  • Platform Engineering: building shared capabilities across data ingestion, backend services, infrastructure, database design, and GraphQL

• Make and defend architectural decisions during technical design discussions

• Partner with external vendors while ensuring solutions align with the organization’s target architecture

• Push back constructively when proposed solutions do not meet engineering standards

What We’re Looking For

• Strong professional software engineering experience with C#

• Hands-on experience building solutions in AWS

• Experience with React and modern application architectures

• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture

• Experience with relational databases and data modeling

• Exposure to GraphQL is highly preferred

• Strong system design and architectural decision-making skills

• Experience working with or managing external vendors, consulting firms, or offshore engineering teams

• Ability to confidently challenge technical decisions and communicate alternative approaches

Ideal Background

You’ll be successful in this role if you’ve previously owned meaningful portions of an enterprise system, made architecture decisions, and worked in environments where you were expected to explain and defend your technical approach.

This is not a role for someone who simply executes predefined requirements. The engineering team is looking for people who can think independently, identify better solutions, and influence how systems are designed.

Interview Process

The interview process includes:

• Initial 30-minute conversation

• 60-minute technical deep dive focused on previous projects, system design, and technical decision-making

• Final cultural and team interview

The technical interview is intentionally challenging. Candidates should be prepared to discuss architectural decisions in depth, defend their reasoning, and adjust their approach when a better solution is identified.
