We are representing a boutique $1B AUM real estate fund seeking a Controller to report directly to the CFO. This is an in-office role with competitive compensation, including 100% covered healthcare. This is a newly created, hands-on leadership role where you will own accounting, reporting, and controls across a multi-vehicle platform, while building the infrastructure to support the firm’s next phase of growth.
What You’ll Own
- Month-end and quarter-end close across the management company, funds, and underlying investment entities
- Accounting for equity and debt positions held through joint ventures, including returns, distributions, and reconciliations
- Management fee, carried interest, and waterfall calculations in line with fund and JV documents
- GAAP financial statements, investor capital statements, and the annual audit process
- Coordination with outside tax advisors on partnership returns and related filings
- Capital calls, distributions, and cash and liquidity management
- Accounting setup for new funds and offerings, plus improvements to systems, automation, and internal controls
- Support to the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and corporate finance
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s in Accounting; CPA preferred
- 6-10 years of experience in public accounting or in-house at a real estate or private equity fund, operator, or administrator
- Strong knowledge of fund and partnership accounting, capital accounts, and waterfalls
- Advanced Excel and experience with fund accounting and investor management platforms
- Detail-oriented self-starter who is comfortable building processes from scratch in a lean team
