Controls and audit: Strengthening accounting policies, resolving issues and managing productive relationships with internal and external auditors.

Team leadership: Developing accountants, setting clear expectations and building a team that takes ownership.

Process improvement: Improving systems, reducing manual work and creating more effective accounting workflows.

Business partnership: Helping finance leadership understand accounting implications, address unfamiliar issues and support business decisions.
The backgrounds I’d particularly like to hear from:

Controllers, Assistant Controllers, Accounting Directors and comparable accounting leaders within insurance.

CPAs with progressive accounting experience and responsibility for managing people.

Professionals with a strong grounding in U.S. GAAP and relevant insurance accounting requirements.

Leaders who have owned a close process, led an audit and improved the underlying processes or controls.
Public accounting experience, statutory accounting knowledge, multi-entity reporting and systems implementation experience are all valuable. The strongest fit will depend on the individual opportunity.
What matters most is the combination: technical credibility, hands-on ownership and the ability to make an accounting team more effective.
