Senior Accountant

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Senior Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting function within a growing insurance organization. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting the month-end close process, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation
- Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end close activities
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial accuracy within SAGE 100
- Analyze financial results, research variances, and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare financial reports in accordance with GAAP (statutory reporting experience is a plus)
- Assist with external audits, regulatory reporting, and financial statement preparation
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and documentation
- Partner with finance leadership to identify opportunities for process improvements
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Insurance industry accounting experience is required
- Property & Casualty insurance experience strongly preferred
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP; statutory accounting experience is a plus
- Experience using SAGE 100 or a similar ERP/accounting system preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
