Senior Accountant – US GAAP

Overview

The Senior Accountant will support US GAAP accounting and financial reporting across insurance and reinsurance operations. The role will contribute to the monthly, quarterly and annual close while partnering with Finance, Actuarial, Tax and other functions.

The position offers broad exposure to financial reporting, accounting analysis, process improvement and strategic finance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support key components of the monthly, quarterly and annual US GAAP close.

  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, schedules and reporting workpapers.

  • Support US GAAP financial statements and financial reporting.

  • Analyze financial results and key P&L and balance sheet variances.

  • Support accounting analysis for insurance, reinsurance and other transactions.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams on reporting and accounting requirements.

  • Support internal and external audits.

  • Assist with internal controls and SOX requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting and reporting processes.

  • Support automation, reporting enhancements and other accounting projects.

  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.

  • 3-8+ years of accounting, financial reporting, audit or related experience.

  • US GAAP experience preferred.

  • Insurance, reinsurance or financial services experience desirable.

  • Financial statement preparation, reconciliations and journal entry experience desirable.

  • CPA or MBA a plus.

  • Experience with Excel and ERP/general ledger systems preferred.

  • Exposure to automation, AI or data analytics a plus.

  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
