Ready to Step Beyond Compliance and Become a Trusted Business Advisor?
The best Tax Managers don’t just prepare returns-they build relationships, solve complex tax challenges, mentor future leaders, and help businesses make smarter decisions.
If you’re looking for a role where you’ll have a genuine seat at the table, direct access to Partners, and the opportunity to influence both clients and the future of a growing tax practice, this could be the move you’ve been waiting for.
We’re partnering with a highly respected Top 100 public accounting and advisory firm that’s continuing to invest in its Southern California Tax practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager who enjoys combining technical excellence with leadership, client advisory, and business development.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply review tax returns.
You’ll become a trusted advisor to privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals while leading complex engagements, developing talented professionals, and working alongside Partners to grow an established practice.
You’ll have the autonomy to make an impact while being supported by a collaborative leadership team that genuinely invests in career progression.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Tax Manager, you’ll lead client engagements from planning through delivery while acting as the primary advisor on complex tax matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Managing a diverse portfolio of business and individual tax clients
-
Reviewing complex federal and state tax returns for accuracy and technical quality
-
Providing proactive tax planning strategies that help clients achieve their business and personal goals
-
Leading client meetings and becoming a trusted long-term advisor
-
Researching and resolving sophisticated tax issues
-
Representing clients during tax examinations and interactions with taxing authorities
-
Managing engagement budgets, billing, and project timelines
-
Coaching, mentoring, and developing Tax Seniors and Staff Accountants
-
Collaborating with Partners on business development initiatives and practice growth
-
Identifying opportunities to improve processes, technology, and client service
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an experienced tax professional who enjoys leading people just as much as solving technical tax issues.
You’ll ideally have:
-
5-7+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience
-
Experience reviewing complex business and individual tax returns
-
Strong tax research and planning skills
-
Previous experience supervising and developing tax professionals
-
CPA licence (required)
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s in Taxation preferred)
-
Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills
Why You’ll Want to Join
-
Competitive salary of $144,000-$184,000
-
Hybrid working model with flexibility
-
Diverse client portfolio across multiple industries
-
Direct exposure to Partners and firm leadership
-
Genuine opportunities to influence client strategy and practice growth
-
Strong investment in professional development and technical training
-
Collaborative culture where your ideas and leadership are valued
-
Clear pathway toward Senior Manager and future leadership opportunities
