Business Analyst

We’re partnering with a leading Life Insurance organization expanding its team to support a major Disability and Absence portal transformation. This is a chance to play a key role in delivering a new customer and claimant portal experience, working closely across Product, Engineering, UX, and Claims. The immediate priority is rapidly delivering an MVP portal for Disability, covering both the Claimant and Customer experience, with the roadmap set to expand into the broader Absence experience across the full product portfolio and integration with the FINEOS Claims platform. It’s a fast-moving environment with a tight delivery timeline, so you’ll need to be comfortable operating with pace and through ambiguity.
The Opportunity
As a Business Analyst, you’ll focus heavily on the front-end customer experience and requirements, working closely with Product Owners to gather and define requirements and translate user and business needs into clear, actionable deliverables for the team. You’ll need to be proactive and comfortable driving clarity independently, particularly in areas where clear SMEs aren’t always available, while working closely with UX to ensure requirements translate into an effective, intuitive customer experience. The role calls for a reasonable level of technical understanding, though the primary focus is on user experience, customer journeys, and requirements rather than deep technical solution design.
Non-Negotiable Experience:
  • Strong Business Analysis experience supporting customer-facing, front-end digital products or platforms.
  • Proven experience gathering, defining and translating user and business needs into clear, actionable requirements for delivery teams.
  • Strong experience working closely with Product and UX teams, with a clear understanding of how requirements translate into an effective end-user experience.
  • The ability to operate independently through ambiguity, including identifying gaps, gathering requirements where SMEs may not be clearly available and driving clarity across complex programmes.
Highly Beneficial Experience
  • Experience with self-built portals
  • Experience supporting employee and/or employer portals
  • Group Benefits experience, particularly Disability, Absence, STD or LTD
  • A reasonable level of technical understanding and experience working alongside Engineering teams
  • Experience working on large-scale, complex digital transformation programmes
Key Candidate Attributes
  • Assertive, proactive and a strong self-starter
  • Comfortable taking direction while also showing significant initiative
  • Able to operate independently rather than simply waiting for instruction
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and identifying gaps
  • Experienced operating “in the weeds” of large-scale, complex programmes
  • Comfortable escalating issues and driving clarity when required
