Job Opportunity: Senior Trial Attorney

Our client, a leading global Property & Casualty insurance organization, is seeking an experienced insurance regulatory attorney to join its U.S. regulatory legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile strategic initiatives while partnering closely with business leaders, regulators, and internal stakeholders across a large and complex insurance platform.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review insurance regulatory filings related to strategic corporate transactions, including holding company and change-of-control matters.
  • Partner directly with state insurance departments and regulatory authorities on filings, approvals, examinations, and inquiries.
  • Advise business units and functional teams on insurance regulatory requirements impacting day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Support responses to consumer complaints, market conduct examinations, financial examinations, and regulatory information requests.
  • Monitor developments in insurance laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance, providing practical advice on business impact and implementation.
  • Conduct legal research and provide clear, actionable guidance on complex regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, and other control functions on regulatory projects and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Support special projects and strategic transactions affecting U.S. insurance operations.

Key Skills

  • MUST HAVE: JD & admittance to at least one state.
  • MUST HAVE: 4+ years of major law firm or in-house experience in the insurance industry.
  • Problem-solving skills that demonstrate ability to critically evaluate and analyze issues and recommend well thought-out and/or creative solutions.
  • Regulatory experience in the Property & Casualty insurance space.

Compensation

  • Up to $170-180k base
  • ~20-30% discretionary bonus
