About the Opportunity

A leading global insurance firm is seeking a Senior Human Capital Consultant to join its growing Private Equity and M&A practice in New York City (other major cities will be considered). This role offers the opportunity to work directly with private equity sponsors, corporate acquirers, and portfolio companies on complex transaction-related human capital matters.

The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating workforce-related risks, liabilities, and opportunities during mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. This position combines technical benefits and compensation expertise with client-facing advisory responsibilities in a fast-paced deal environment.

The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving transaction environment. They possess strong consulting skills, can effectively manage competing priorities, and are confident engaging with senior executives, investors, and professional advisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage human capital due diligence engagements for private equity and corporate transactions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the transaction lifecycle, providing insight into workforce-related risks and opportunities.
  • Analyze employee benefit programs, retirement plans, compensation structures, executive agreements, equity arrangements, and broader people-related considerations.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts across benefits, retirement, compensation, actuarial, and international consulting disciplines to develop comprehensive findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare and present client deliverables, including executive summaries, diligence reports, and transaction-related recommendations.
  • Review transaction documents and identify human capital considerations that may impact deal structure, valuation, or post-close integration.
  • Evaluate financial and operational implications of employee benefit programs and workforce liabilities.
  • Partner with business development and client relationship teams to support new opportunities and strengthen existing client relationships.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for ongoing consulting support following transaction completion.
  • Maintain strong relationships with private equity sponsors, corporate development teams, legal advisors, accounting firms, and other deal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives and stay informed on emerging trends within employee benefits, compensation, and transaction advisory services.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in employee benefits consulting, human capital consulting, corporate benefits, underwriting, transaction advisory, or a related field.
  • Experience working with health and welfare plans, retirement programs, and compensation structures.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience supporting human capital due diligence engagements in M&A transactions.
  • Familiarity with private equity operating models and portfolio company environments.
  • Knowledge of executive compensation, equity-based compensation plans, pension programs, and international benefits.
  • Professional licenses or certifications related to employee benefits, insurance, or human resources are advantageous.
