Director of Finance | Insurance | Jacksonville, FL
I’m currently partnered with a well-established P&C insurance business in Jacksonville that is looking to appoint a Director of Finance into a newly evolved role within its finance function.
This is not a traditional accounting role. The position sits at the intersection of Accounting, FP&A and strategic finance, with the opportunity to work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team.
The business is going through an exciting period of rebuilding and growth, and this role will play an important part in helping shape the future finance function.
The opportunity:
* Lead and understand the GAAP close and broader accounting processes
* Partner closely with Actuarial around reserve development
* Develop and analyse segment-level P&Ls
* Own forecasting, simulation modelling and 3-year strategic planning
* Partner with Department Heads and senior leadership across the business
* Turn financial data into meaningful commercial insight and storytelling
* Help drive automation and move the finance function beyond traditional Excel reporting
* Work with tools such as SQL, Power BI and data analytics
* Cross-train across Accounting and FP&A, with the role expected to develop further over time
* Opportunity to build and eventually manage additional finance resource
What they’re looking for:
The key requirement is someone who brings the combination of:
Insurance + GAAP Accounting + FP&A
Ideally, you’ll have minimum 8 years’ experience and a strong foundation in insurance accounting, GAAP close and financial reporting, alongside genuine FP&A and strategic exposure.
Experience working with Actuarial and understanding reserve development would be highly beneficial.
They’re particularly interested in people who have moved from a traditional accounting background into FP&A and strategic finance.

Working pattern: Approximately 4 days per week in the office, with some remote flexibility around close periods
Base: $120,000 – $170,000 + discretionary bonus
